There is something so intimate about eloping – how the simplicity of the day brings to the forefront the importance of standing across from your person reading personalized vows meant only for them. Ashely and Thomas chose to do so on their patio surrounded by a garden they had tended together, the only guests in attendance their puppy (who may have been all the more excited about their cake from Quack’s Bakery), and the officiant.
Before stepping under hanging garland out onto their balcony they helped each other with the last-minute details, the straightening of Thomas’ boutonniere, lighting candles amongst the herbs and cacti. Then they shared their promises and concluded the ceremony with a handfasting and a kiss. As the sun dipped closer to the horizon, we strolled into the apartment’s garden for a handful of portraits. I am beyond honored to document their day.
